Financial education in adulthood: conditions for success, mechanisms of action and individual financial education strategies in the context of life
The project
FiBiE
The FiBiE project is dedicated to financial education in adulthood from the perspective of adult education/further education. Financial education is understood as a continuous, dynamic and biographically localised process that takes place throughout the lifespan. To date, there has been a lack of adult education-based analyses of the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of financial education processes in the context of life, including subjective justification logics. The overarching question of the project is: How does financial education take shape as a continuous, biographical process in the life context of adults throughout their lives? The aim is to analyse influencing factors, individual financial education strategies, effects and mechanisms of action as well as conditions for success of financial education as a multidimensional structure in the context of life and to make it describable, taking subjective logics into account. Empirically, a qualitative panel study will be implemented for this purpose. Together with educational practice (practice advisory board), the potential for shaping financial education processes in general and for embedding educational opportunities in the life context of adults in particular will be developed.
