Biographical and network-related influences on the development of financial competence of single mothers in precarious living situations
The project
Finanz_Net
Due to their socio-demographic and economic circumstances, single mothers are structurally dependent on financial skills. Research indicates that financial literacy is acquired through biographical learning in the context of social networks. However, this connection and the associated favourable and inhibiting factors have not yet been systematically investigated. Finanz_Net aims to generate basic knowledge on these relationships in the development of financial literacy among single mothers in precarious situations. The project uses the innovative method of qualitative biographical network analysis and provides for the collection of biographical network interviews, which are analysed using qualitative structural analysis. The aim of the analysis is to categorise favourable and inhibiting factors for the development of financial literacy. The findings provide basic knowledge for the multidimensional development of financial literacy and the targeted (further) development of measures for the aforementioned target group. With reference to the OECD competence framework, a teaching module will be developed that is compatible with existing life situation-related financial education programmes. The results will be continuously reflected on for utilisation by a project advisory board, integrated into a multiplier training course and made available as an OER resource.
