Designing Financial Education with Language Sensitivity
The project
FIBIS
Finance-related technical language knowledge and skills are important for making responsible and informed financial decisions. In addition, based on (foreign) language and didactic findings, it can be assumed that their promotion has a positive effect on the development of financial knowledge. Against this background, the level of financial language knowledge and skills of the individuals is to be measured using an empirically validated instrument (C-tests) developed in the project. As a preliminary work for this, the specific financial language requirements placed on consumers (in information materials) will be empirically determined.
central project components:
- Studie zur Identifizierung fachsprachlicher Anforderungen in an Verbraucher:innen gerichtete Finanzinformationsmaterialien
- Development and empirical validation of a C-test to measure financial language knowledge and skills
- Main study on the financial language knowledge and skills of members of vulnerable groups (especially disadvantaged young people/young adults)
- Development of a concept for language-sensitive financial education (for vulnerable groups)
