Project background
Viele Strafgefangene in Deutschland sind überschuldet oder von Überschuldung bedroht, was die Resozialisierung erheblich erschweren kann. Finanzielle Allgemeinbildung kann hier im besonderen Maße zur gesellschaftlichen Teilhabe und zum kompetenten Umgang mit finanziellen Herausforderungen im Alltag beitragen. Derzeit werden die spezifischen (Bildungs-)Bedarfe von inhaftierten und anderen straffälligen Menschen bei der Entwicklung von Materialien und Maßnahmen der finanziellen Bildung jedoch kaum berücksichtigt.

Project goals
The aim of the FIBISTRA project is to gain knowledge about the mechanisms of action and success factors for the acquisition of financial literacy in the context of the penal system. The focus is on financial education as a building block of basic education in resocialisation and further education measures for offenders.

A comprehensive status quo analysis is first used to determine the extent to which the financial education materials and methods used are tailored to the specific needs of the target group. On this basis, prototypical teaching-learning arrangements are designed and tested. A particular focus is on the development of instructional designs in the area of online banking. Here, a click dummy including accompanying educational material is being developed that can be used as a self-learning tutoring system in prisons and similar educational contexts.
