Finanzkompetenz-Monitor
The project
FinKomp
The Financial Literacy Monitor (FinKomp-Monitor) project sets the foundation for continuous monitoring of the financial literacy of the adult population in Germany across all life stages. To achieve this, the dimensions and facets of financial literacy are outlined within a competency framework that also takes into account the objectives of the national financial education strategy. Based on this framework, measurement instruments are developed and validated, including a monitoring questionnaire that will be regularly used to assess financial literacy. The questionnaire contains detailed questions on financial knowledge, financial attitudes, financial behavior, and financial situation or well-being, as well as socio-demographic characteristics. The goal is to design the surveys in a way that provides a comprehensive overview of the financial literacy of adults in Germany while enabling differentiated analyses for specific life stages and age groups. The survey waves are supplemented by flexible focus topics to address current developments, specifically examine disadvantaged groups, or answer open research questions related to financial education.
